If you love to sing, and you’re in Years 2-6, you can join the Sydney Children’s Choir in Parramatta this year!

The rehearsals take place each week at PHIVE, 5 Parramatta Square, a beautiful new hub for arts and culture in the heart of the Parramatta CBD. We will begin rehearsals on Tuesday 9 May, in Term 2.

Two rehearsals will be run each week – a Junior Training Choir for children in Years 2 and 3, and an Intermediate Training Choir for children in Years 4 to 6.

Young people who join the choir will rehearse each week and develop their musical skills, as well as go on camps and perform in concerts. The choir has a long history of working with Australian composers, presenting performances of new Australian music to audiences.

Lyn Williams AM, who founded the choir in 1989, said: “We’re thrilled to be running Sydney Children’s Choir rehearsals in Parramatta from this year. There are so many talented young people living in the Parramatta area and in its surrounds, and we can’t wait to harness that talent. As our city grows, we look forward to growing the Sydney Children’s Choir with it.”

The rehearsals in Parramatta will be conducted by Lachlan Massey, who has been with the choir since he was a chorister. Lachlan currently conducts several of the choir’s junior treble ensembles including the Sydney Children’s Choir’s Junior Performing Choir. “I absolutely loved singing with The Sydney Children’s Choir when I was growing up. It gave me so many wonderful opportunities to sing across Australia and even overseas. I’m so looking forward to working with the young singers in our rehearsals at Parramatta in 2023.”
