Sydney Children’s Choir Scholarships (2027)
For Young Singers of Outstanding Ability
Sydney Children’s Choir is pleased to offer excellence scholarships for our choir. Choristers who receive a scholarship will receive a full subsidy for their 2027 choir fees.
Over its 37-year history, the Sydney Children’s Choir has forged a reputation for artistic innovation and spell-binding performance. Our internationally recognised choral training program offers a standard of vocal training unsurpassed in Australia, developing each chorister in choral singing, aural skills, music theory, composition, sight singing, movement and professionalism on and off stage. The program goes beyond the school curriculum, allowing choristers to extend their musical knowledge and providing them with exciting performance opportunities.
Scholarships for Parramatta Choirs:
These scholarships are made possible through the Gondwana Choirs Access Fund, with a founding donation from Larry Boyd.
- Choristers must be between ages 8-12 (Years 3-6 at school).
- These scholarships will cover all choir fees including annual camp costs and a rehearsal t-shirt.
Scholarships for Walsh Bay:
- Choristers must be between ages 10-17 (Years 5-12 at school).
- Choristers must have a high level of musical ability and previous experience. For example, they may play an instrument, have completed AMEB theory, or have singing lessons.
- These scholarships will cover all choir fees, with the exception of annual camp costs and a rehearsal t-shirt.
All choristers who apply for a scholarship must:
- have a love of singing and music
- have an excellent singing voice and musical aptitude
- be able to have excellent concentration and commitment in rehearsals
- be committed to having exemplary attendance at weekly rehearsals and performances during the year
Ideal candidates may also:
- be learning a musical instrument
- have studied music theory
Key dates for 2027 scholarships:
- Monday 12 October 2026: Applications close
- Sunday 25 October 2026: Scholarship auditions
- Wednesday 4 November 2026: Scholarship results announced
- Choristers who are successful in their applications will also be invited to perform in our 2026 Voices of Angels at the Sydney Opera House, with weekly rehearsals from 17 November (PHIVE Parramatta), and 5-10 December Voices of Angels Rehearsals and Performance (Walsh Bay and Sydney Opera House)
