Gondwana Choirs is excited to announce a ground-breaking collaboration in 2017 between Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir and the renowned Vienna Boys Choir
The core of this project is bringing together two highly skilled children’s choirs, both deeply connected to a rich cultural heritage – the inspiring Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir (GICC) and the reputable Vienna Boys Choir. In collaboration with the Austrian National Tourist Office these world class ensembles will contribute to the creation of new work, cultural exchange, touring and the culminating performances at the Sydney Opera House and the Cairns Convention Centre.
The project is supported by a Plus 1 Funding grant from Creative Partnerships Australia where each individual donation will be matched by CPA up to $50,000, effectively doubling each contribution.

THE PROJECT
VIENNA TOUR
In May 2017, the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir will travel to Vienna to rehearse with the Vienna Boys Choir for the first time. New music will be commissioned for them, and this trip will provide a valuable opportunity for the combined choirs to workshop these new compositions, written specifically for both ensembles. They will perform in the Vienna Boys Choir’s esteemed venue, the MuTh, and connect with the Australian Embassy in Vienna, supporting important cultural diplomacy and exchange.
AUSTRALIAN REHEARSALS & CONCERTS: CAIRNS & SYDNEY
In October 2017, the Vienna Boys Choir will arrive in Sydney for final rehearsals with the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir, and the extended massed choirs of the Gondwana Sydney and National Children’s Choirs. Together they will perform in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, which include the world premieres of the new music written especially for them. Following that, the Vienna Boys Choir and Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir will travel to Cairns for further intensive music rehearsals and a combined performance for the local community, proposed to be in partnership with the Cairns Regional Council and Arts Queensland at the Cairns Convention Centre.
