Gondwana Voices’ star shone brightly on the international stage this week with its performance of Brett Dean’s Vexations and Devotions with the Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Radio Choir in the Berlin Philharmonie.
The Radio Choir’s official page posted the above video showing the audience and orchestra’s huge reaction to the complex work saying:
“Bravo! Big applause after Brett Dean’s “Vexations and Devotions”… Many thanks to Vladimir Jurowski, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and the wonderful Gondwana Voices!”
For a unique perspective, Australian expat singer Melinda Parsons, a member of the Berlin Radio Choir, says:
“To say I’m proud is an understatement. Tonight in the Berlin Philharmonie we performed a Brett Dean work which showcased the spectacular Gondwana Voices. There was a point where I could barely concentrate on my score as the sound of these children was transfixing and I was so moved that they were performing with us … Never have I heard this incredibly clear and unique sound in a children’s choir which was like the brightness of the Australian sky.”
Kudos to Lyn Williams, who led Gondwana Voices spectacular performances in London, Radeburg, Meissen and Liepzig and oversaw rehearsals for Berlin.
