This ambitious project brought together the finest choirs from across the world and country, united by the love of singing. The choirs shared their artistry with each other and audiences with great generosity and through the support of Media Partner ABC Classic, the nation and the world could listen in to the wonderful concerts throughout the week. 21 concerts, public workshops, open rehearsals, atrium choirs, a private chorister-only performance all came together to create an incredible atmosphere in Sydney. The following week, 3 guest choirs travelled up to our other home in Cairns to present a gala concert with the Gondwana Indigenous Choir at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre.
The festival began life as an idea to mark the 30th birthday of the Sydney Children’s Choir and was a truly joyous celebration of the finest choral music from across the world.
The festival would not have been possible without the support of key partners: Destination NSW, The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Sydney Opera House and the Cairns Regional Council. Our sincere thanks also go to our incredible team of staff and volunteers who kept the festival running like clockwork.
