NCS 2016 Professional Development

13 Jan 2016 NCS 2016 Professional Development

A unique opportunity for music teachers and choral conductors to immerse yourself in Gondwana Choirs’ internationally renowned National Choral School, over seven days in January 2016. Be inspired with new repertoire & rehearsal techniques, observe leading Australian and international choral conductors, engage with emerging conductors and composers, connect with passionate colleagues, and discuss current issues with the Gondwana Choirs artists, including Dr Brady Allred, special guest conductor at this year’s camp.

National Choral School is an intensive two week program, in 2016 featuring five ensembles: Gondwana Chorale, Gondwana Voices, Gondwana Singers, Junior Gondwana, and for the first time, the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir.

The ensembles are spread across the Macquarie University campus, with rehearsal schedules confirmed daily. Upon arrival at 9am, you will be greeted by Gondwana Choirs staff, given a map and schedule of the various choirs’ rehearsals for the day. You may choose which ensembles you would like to observe, scores will be available in each room for your perusal.

Gondwana’s National Choral School also includes programs for emerging conductors and composers, and on Monday 18 January, you are welcome to stay and attend an in-house performance of compositions written especially for the resident ensembles over the past week.
