Ahead of the world premiere of Moments that Shaped Australia, the Sydney Children’s Choir performs a sneak preview of one of the movements at a Government House reception hosted by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) Governor of New South Wales and Mrs Linda Hurley.
When the Sydney Children’s Choir takes to the stage at City Recital Hall for Eternal Voices in just 10 days time, they will present a world premiere that is set to have a ripple effect of unknown proportions!
The new work, Moments that Shaped Australia by Dan Walker, was commissioned by Gondwana Choirs’ Artistic Director, Lyn Williams OAM, especially for Eternal Voices. It takes in events that have been sources of great national pride, joy, and heartbreak.
Lyn Williams believes that the work is the beginning of a concept that will have significant spin-offs. Says Lyn, “Really, there are so many landmark events in our history and I feel that Moments that Shaped Australia really is the start of something bigger – that it will lead to a whole series of pieces about Australian moments.”
