The must-see concert event of the year!
In a world first, the renowned Vienna Boys’ Choir joins with both Cairns Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir and the Sydney Children’s Choir in a unique celebration of culture and language. Also taking part will be the Cairns Songfest Choir, an outreach initiative of Gondwana Choirs.
Experience the excitement and musical prowess of these incredible children’s ensembles for one night only in the Great Hall of the Cairns Convention Centre.
The evening includes the combined choirs performing the world premiere of Boori Guman by Australian composer Owen Elsley written in collaboration with Gudju Gudju of the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji, the Traditional Owners of Cairns (Gimuy). Boori Guman tells the story of the origin of fire and will be performed in English and Gimuy Walubara Yidinji language.
This concert is part of a partnership between Gondwana Choirs and the Austrian National Tourist Office. The commission of Boori Guman was made possible by support from the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
