Paul Stanhope

    Background: Studied Composition, University of Sydney (with Peter Sculthorpe); Guildhall School of Music, London (Charles Mackerras Scholarship). PhD (Composition), 2000; Toru Takemitsu Composition Prize, 2004; Two AMC/APRA Art Music Awards (2011); Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship (2013-2014). Currently Senior Lecturer in Composition, Sydney Conservatorium of Music

    Gondwana Choirs: Extensive relationship with Gondwana Choirs over more than 15 years including composition of major work Jandamarra – Sing for the Country in 2014 and other commissions. Also worked as a guest conductor for Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Voices

    Other Experience: Musical Director, Sydney Chamber Choir (2006-2015); Guest conductor and Chorus Master, Cantillation (2004-2008). Occasional guest conductor for Kammer Ensemble, Australia Ensemble and other specialist new music groups.
