On 18 July, former Gondwana Voices chorister and Music Captain at Brisbane Grammar School, Angus Woods, organised a wonderful fundraising event to allow young Indigenous singers to attend Gondwana National Choral School 2016.
The evening was introduced by Mr Scott Emerson MP, State Member for Indooroopilly, and compered by Angus Woods and Jeremy Donovan, CEO of Generation One. Music ensembles from the leading schools in Brisbane and the Queensland Conservatorium performed a wide and varied program, which also featured a performance byTionne, Marnee & Nia Seden, representing our Cairns Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir, and former member Tyus Arndt.
The evening had many sponsors, including several galleries that donated wonderful art work for the silent auction. Thanks to all the sponsors and to all involved, especially St Peters Lutheran College for donating the use of their magnificent Performing Arts Centre.
The final amount raised exceeded $26 000, which is an incredible effort. Gondwana Choirs applauds Angus and his mother Samantha for the amazing amount of work they put into organising the evening.
Bravo Angus. Thank you for your imagination in conceiving of “Giving Back to Gondwana Choirs”. We wish you well in your future!
